From the first interaction with Colin and Jules, I immediately picked up on their playful sense of humor. And, boy… When I met these two on Skyline Drive, they were not afraid to show off that fun spirit in their relationship! Love that!! We had been anticipating this gathering for so long because we were excited for fall to happen on top of the mountain! They fell in love with my past work on Skyline Drive, so I knew we were going to have a great time… and not justtttt because they had the CUTEST prop ever. 😉 Their fur baby, Guinness, joined us for the shoot (well, I guess he had no choice. HA!), and I just wanted to snuggle with him the entire time!!! But of course, I saved that for after the session was done. 😉 While we were running around on the cliffs of the Shenandoah mountains, Jules mentioned that she had just finished a 10-mile run the day prior. And in the meantime, I had her climb over railings and rocks. HA! Poor girl. But she definitely managed with a smile on her face as if the 10-miles wasn’t a big deal at all! Although, at one point of the shoot, while I was directing Jules to move her arm one way, Colin started messing with her and was twisting her in all different directions when she said, “I don’t do yoga!” HAHA! It was cute, and the joke carried on throughout the session as I told her, “Now, Jules, I’m going to make you do yoga…” 😉 She better be ready for some yoga poses on her wedding day! I would neverrrr. But I hope Guinness makes a surprise appearance! 😉

Colin & Jules Love Story

How Colin and Jules Met

That Time We Swiped Right.

See what had happened was…..even a freak snow storm couldn’t stop our first date. Finally, after weeks of chatting, we decided to meet at a local spot (Citizen Burger in Clarendon), mainly because wine was needed after a hard day at work.  No thanks to the weatherman, Julianne quickly learned that the weekend snowstorm was starting on her drive home…on Wednesday.  While not wanting to reschedule, Julianne fought traffic to drop her car off, only to jump in an Uber and get stuck for 45mins going less than 2 miles. Colin trudged through the snow to take the metro and patiently waited at the restaurant. After multiple “take your time” & “just be safe” texts from Colin, Julianne arrived…to find Colin still sitting at the hostess stand. (Julianne’s thought: whoa, he’s different; Colin’s thought: she’s very pretty). Thanks to the snow storm, we had the restaurant to ourselves and a young waiter who worked way too hard for a good tip. Anyhoo…within the first 5 mins after discussing Julianne’s plan of attack to get wine on the way home to be winter weather prepared, we learned that we lived…in the same building…separated by one floor.

WE COULD’VE MET IN THE LOBBY!

In our defense, Tinder only said “less than a mile” in distance, not “you’re 200 feet away.” So, after a great dinner and Colin realizing he should’ve bought the bottle, we set off to brave the storm, picked up the weather essentials (more wine) and started the adventure of our lives!

How Colin Proposed to Jules

Last September, Julianne’s sister was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan, so Julianne and Colin, along with her family, went down to Savannah for the send-off. Little did Julianne know that behind the scenes, Colin was looking for the best opportunity to have Julianne’s family together to pop the question and had enlisted the help of Julianne’s sisters.

While enjoying all of the best of the bests of Savannah throughout the weekend, her sisters recommended an iconic location to Colin to pop the question. Dressing up for more photos took some convincing as Julianne just wanted to get crab legs for dinner (the fake plan). So we visited the Wormsloe Plantation, a famous historic site, with beautiful oak trees draping over the dirt avenue to take “family pictures.” After a couple photos with the family, Colin requested a photo with Julianne. While we were starting to pose –and with every family member ready to take a photo or video (not obvious!), cars continued to pass by, requiring Julianne and Colin to keep stepping off the pathway.  What Julianne didn’t realize was that each time, Colin was attempting to get the ring out of his pocket. Finally, after the fourth car passed by, Colin got down on one knee and asked Julianne to marry him! She said “OF COURSE!!”

Julianne’s sisters immediately shouted “PUPPIES and BABIES” in excitement! [Spoiler alert: we got a puppy!] After a bunch of hugs and more photos with the family, Julianne’s sisters surprised the happy new couple with champagne to celebrate.  Colin then broke the news to Julianne that we were continuing the celebration at 700 Drayton, a gorgeous historic restaurant in Savannah, instead of crab legs. (Julianne was bummed but don’t worry, we got them the next night!) After more champagne and a delicious dinner, Julianne and Colin took an evening stroll through Forsyth Park. <3

Thank you, Colin and Jules, for making the hike out to Skyline Drive!!! I’m glad the snow storm on your first date didn’t deter you from meeting. I love you two together and cannot wait to see you with their family and friends next month celebrating their big day!!! <3 Enjoy a preview from our time together! XOXO!!!
