A Cozy and Coastal Blue Bedroom | Inspiration

You might recall me sharing a little project I tackled last year. I built and hung my first DIY barn door!!! It was a fun project, but this was before I officially moved into Alex’s house. Needless to say, I was excited to see my furniture move in and bring a little feminine touch into the room! 🙂 But when I think about feminine touches, I don’t necessarily think of dark blues… It can most definitely be pulled off in a man cave. Well today, I’m excited to share some cozy blue bedroom inspiration your way!!!

Why Dark Blue?

When I thought about painting our bedroom before I moved in, I wanted it to be super cozy! After all, it should be a place to relax and settle down for a good night’s sleep. If you learn about the psychology of colors, every color evokes emotions and moods. Dark blue is known to be serene and calm. Of course, though, I love light and airy rooms. Just thinking about the black-out curtains (for Alex when he works the night shift) and dark paint could have easily steered me away from choosing dark blue. However, with the right balance of popping white wall trim, fabrics, furniture, and accessories, I was willing to go bold!

I decided to paint half of the wall white to counterbalance the dark blue. Also, I installed board and batten trim around the room as well as crown molding. The trim made a HUGE difference!!! And after I moved my furniture in and combined our furniture/things, the room came together!
