It’s not unusual to have the chance for rain on a wedding day in Virginia. But it’s not every day I photograph an event during a HURRICANE (and thank goodness). Last Friday, Andrew and Kelsey hosted their wedding celebration at the beautiful Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia. Hurricane Ian posed some complications leading up to their day, like getting Kelsey’s brother up to Virginia from Florida. But by the time the day came, Kelsey and Andrew were in the moment living their best day, despite the frigid temps, wind, and rain! We grabbed the umbrellas and found some covered spots to make the day as beautiful as we envisioned outside! If you know Early Mountain Vineyards, you know that the outdoor atmosphere is photo-worthy. 🙂

Andrew, Kelsey, and I met for the first time just the day before their wedding at Patty O’s Cafe & Bakery for their rehearsal dinner. After chatting with them over the phone months prior, I couldn’t wait to hang out with them in person!!! And better yet, I got to meet their families, which was so fun making connections before the big day. In fact, it was Andrew and Kelsey’s family’s first time meeting each other too! I watched their families come together as one family within hours, and it was a blast documenting their newfound friendships unfolding!

Andrew + Kelsey

Together, Andrew and Kelsey are absolute sweethearts. They love the Lord, their families, each other, and exquisite food — All of those values were evident while I photographed them at their rehearsal dinner and wedding day. Andrew is the Director of Culinary at the Inn at Little Washington, which meant that the food at the wedding was going to be top-notch (it was thanks to their chef friend, Tim, who also once worked at the Inn at Little Washington and now works at Early Mountain Vineyards).

Andrew and Kelsey loved Early Mountain Vineyards because of the outdoor atmosphere. After all, the Shenandoah Mountains have a special place in their hearts ever since Andrew proposed to Kelsey on a hike! And months later, they finally tied the knot in a very intimate setting. Even though it was a smaller-sized wedding, I loved that this crew kept the party going on until 11:30 p.m.!!! Even in the middle of a hurricane. HA! By the end of the day, I wished I could rewind time and photograph Andrew and Kelsey for way longer than the day allowed — I mean, do you see how beautiful they look below?! Check it out!!

Check out their beautiful day through my lens!!!
