This was not Lindsey and Brennan’s first time in front of my camera. In fact, I think I have photographed them at least three different times! Their engagement session, wedding day, and Christmas mini sessions. 🙂 But when Lindsey reached out excitedly sharing that they were expecting, I couldn’t imagine not celebrating this season with them! Brennan and Lindsey are fun, respectful, SO sweet, and really… perfect together. Their little girl, Piper, is the luckiest! I was honored that they wanted to have me document their maternity portraits in the beautiful Virginia Shenandoah Mountains! After all, it’s one of my favorite spots in Virginia!

But we didn’t expect this…

When I drove up to our meeting spot, I entered a thick cloud that was lingering at the top of the mountain ridge. It stretched all the way down the road so we had to improvise with minimal cell service. We found that the east side didn’t have the haunting clouds, so we decided to start the session there and *hoped* the clouds cleared up in time for the sunset!

About halfway through our time, we held our breath (figuratively) and hoped for the best as we ventured to the west side. My mouth DROPPED because we had the perfect sunset. I have proof of what the same exact spot looked like just an hour before (^ above). Very haunting and not the look we want for maternity portraits. 😉 There was a little cloud coverage just below us that created a beautiful and unique backdrop. I’m so glad that the clouds didn’t scare us from taking these portraits! Being patient paid off, and I love how we ended up with a beautiful sunset! Lindsey and Brennan looked so great and happy, and we took full advantage of our time together catching up where we left off. 🙂 Check it out!!!
