Thinking back on Matt and Tina’s engagement, I’m blown away from the time passed. By the way, if you haven’t heard their love story of how Matt proposed to Tina, you HAVE to check out their engagement blog post HERE! Their proposal story is sweet!!! To believe that we have been anticipating October 8th, 2016 for a year; it came and went! I had the best time getting to know them as a couple. Matt makes Tina so happy, and it’s a bonus that they both share the same love for Harry Potter!
Last Saturday was a beautiful celebration at Stevenson Ridge. Guests flew in from all over the world, including South Korea! It was sweet documenting the family/friends gathering. It was a very emotional day for both families. Bittersweet to see their son/daughter get married after anticipating this moment for a while. 🙂 Matt and Tina had a beautiful ceremony indoors. Fortunately, they had already planned to have their ceremony inside! They love the cozy atmosphere with the fireplace and wooden beams. So I’m glad the rain didn’t dampen any outdoor wedding plans. 🙂
So what happens when it’s consistently raining the day of a wedding? I get asked this question often (especially this year), but I reassure my couples that we will still go outside for photos, as long as the couple is okay with it. Fortunately, Matt and Tina were troopers and grabbed an umbrella to go outside! The grass was saturated, so we stayed on concrete surfaces and porches to protect their wedding attire. Fortunately, Stevenson Ridge had a couple of porches, so I utilized them for the wedding party photos while the rain was heavy. I stood outside and got rained on, but I didn’t care because I’m not the one getting photographed. 😉 We were SO lucky because after we had finished the wedding party group photos, the rain slowed down 15 minutes before their reception started! It was still raining, but I’m glad Matt and Tina were willing to throw the umbrella off to the side for their portraits as if rain was never a point of conversation on their wedding day. 🙂
After we had taken advantage of the lighter rain, Matt and Tina made their entrance into their party! After many hugs, speeches, cutting of the cake and parent dances, the dance floor opened where guests weren’t afraid to show off their moves. Including the chicken dance! The DJ even managed to share some special tunes, playing first dance songs for both sets of the parents. 🙂 Loved that touch during the party! Another favorite moment happened after the party when everyone grabbed a glow stick and sent Matt and Tina off on their happy way! 🙂 Love the glow stick effect in the photos! Great way to end the night and celebration!
Thank you, Matt and Tina, for being so willing to work around the weather. Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day! I could not be happier for you two and I was incredibly honored you had me by your side. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!! Hope you are enjoying Hawaii and taking advantage of the beautiful weather!! CONGRATS and enjoy this preview from your wedding! XOXO!
