When Mary and Casey reached out about photographing their backyard estate wedding in Warrenton, Virginia… Excited was an understatement! I went to high school with Mary, and she was an American beauty. Photographing Mary and Casey during their Colorado Springs engagement session was EFFORTLESS (as you would imagine). So after that warm-up in front of the camera, I knew they were going to rock their photos on their wedding day! They radiate JOY and LOVE not just for each other but for life! It was so fun photographing that energy!
Mary and Casey chose to celebrate their wedding on family property. When I arrived, I felt like I was at a house on 30A (like Seaside)! After chatting briefly with Casey’s stepfather about the beautiful architecture, it turned out that he knew my family — It’s a small town, after all! 🙂 Mary said that the blue on their home was the inspiration for their wedding invitation. The property is breathtaking, and it was an obvious choice to host their wedding day there! EXCEPT… They had a BIG scare just two days before the wedding! A torrential downpour happened on the property, which caused a FLOOD where the tent was. Everyone scrambled to figure out a solution, and with many prayers, it miraculously dried up in time for the wedding celebration!
Mary and Casey kept their day timeless, elegant, and classy. They kicked off the celebration together by opening a bottle of champagne during their first look. After all, Mary works for a wine company, so it was fitting to incorporate a special bottle they can open every anniversary. 🙂 When it came time for the ceremony, Mary was fully in the moment! As she walked down the aisle, she said hi to everyone and complimented how great everyone looked. LOL! It was adorable! When Casey and Mary were pronounced husband and wife…
It was time to kick off the party!!!
While guests enjoyed the ambiance of the property during the cocktail hour (and yummy oysters!), we ran around taking photos — I could’ve photographed these two ALL EVENING LONG! I mean… Look at them. 😉 Then everyone headed over to the tent for the reception, but while looking at the setup, the reception spot looked like this place was built to be a wedding venue! Casey and Mary are fortunate to have this unique location as their venue. The party kicked off with dinner, hilarious toasts (I got to hear all about how Casey was tricked by his brother to cram inside a dog crate — Lol!) … and the Bachelor Boys Band — What all could you want in a reception?!
If you’re not familiar with band weddings, they are some of my FAVORITE receptions!!! Casey and Mary were all about it too! Halfway through the reception, Mary swapped her beautiful wedding gown for a PARTY dress! It was a fun night with lots of great candids of Mary with her sweet Mimi and friends. <3 But the night got even better with a 10-minute professional fireworks show! Talk about ending the night on a high note! Check it out!!

During Mary and Casey’s final meeting, Mary told me the significance of blue birds in her life. It’s symbolic of her father — What was incredible was seeing the blue birds appear when we were photographing the family portraits! Mary’s father was there to celebrate this exciting day with her and everyone. <3
